The lucite beads are antique findings probably from the 20's-50's.  Lucite is a thermoplastic that is most commonly used today as a lightweight/shatterproof alternative to glass.  It's use back in the 20's-50's was as the inexpensive cousin of Bakelite, which was used in jewelry and furniture.
